Welcome to the fall issue of HOPA News!
A new season brings new energy, and the momentum across our organization is hard to miss. Much of HOPA’s work is deeply practical, such as continuing education credits, clinical guidance, and resources to strengthen the oncology pharmacy profession. With a new Strategic Plan in motion, leadership elections approaching, and committees hitting their stride, I find our work equally inspirational. It reflects what is possible when oncology pharmacists from across the cancer care continuum share expertise, pursue innovative ideas, and work together to improve care for people with cancer. A few examples:
- HOPA’s Precision Oncology Initiative has published several resources, including a video series exploring how oncology pharmacists design workflows, navigate implementation challenges, and operationalize precision medicine across a variety of practice settings. The initiative also recently released a Biomarker Testing Comparison Guide, a quick reference for identifying which biomarkers each commercial testing company assesses.
- The HOPA Pharmacy Peer Network pilot has now been running for six months, and we are beginning a comprehensive program assessment to guide next steps. Early findings point to a clear need for knowledge-sharing around the implementation of bispecific antibody therapies, particularly in community settings. About 60% of the questions sent to the network came from pharmacists and other professionals working in community-based care.
- The HOPA Collaborative Oncology Research (CORe) Center has launched and, at the time of this writing, had its first open call for pharmacist-led research applications. CORe Center is the result of the HOPA 2025 Big Idea pitch and a testament to what can happen when we work together on ideas, both big and small.

These initiatives reflect the work already underway through HOPA’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, released in June. Shaped by thoughtful input from members and stakeholders, our five-year roadmap is organized around five pillars: Education, Professional Practice, Research, Advocacy, and Organizational Excellence. Read the full Strategic Plan here.
In June, HOPA also introduced a revised set of Core Values. Patients are at the center surrounded by our commitment to act with integrity, passionately pursue progress, lead boldly, and create space for everyone in our oncology pharmacy community.
As we continue to make progress on our strategic priorities, one thing remains steady: HOPA's greatest strength is the collective expertise, passion, and commitment of our members. Thank you for all you do to advance the care of patients with cancer and for the many ways you contribute to our community.
