The Purpose of HOPA Volunteer Groups
Our member volunteers help us achieve our strategic goals and put within reach our vision that, someday, everyone undergoing cancer treatment will have an oncology pharmacist as an integral member of their care team. HOPA volunteer groups are comprised of councils and committees, and may include advisory groups and/or time-limited task forces.
HOPA Councils
The purpose of HOPA's Councils is to support and guide work being done within the organization's strategic pillars of Education, Professional Practice, Research & Quality, and Advocacy & Awareness. The majority of our volunteer positions ladder directly up to one of those pillars; all of them help complete our governance structure.
Education Pillar
The Education Council is responsible for the overall outcomes of HOPA's ACPE and BCOP educational programs. Education Committees are focused on building and maintaining HOPA's reputation as a high-quality provider of CE credits for hematology/oncology pharmacists.

The purpose of the Patient Education Sheets (PES) Group is to provide hematology/oncology pharmacist insight during the creation of Patient Education Sheets in partnership with NCODA, ONS, and ACCC.
Please note: Due to the collaborative nature of the Patient Education Sheets project, group members will be asked to meet tight turnaround times. Members will complete availability surveys monthly and based on availability will be asked to complete sheet reviews within four days. While not all members will be assigned a sheet each week, if they are assigned a sheet, they will be required to meet the aforementioned deadline.

The Publications & Resources Committee (PRC) optimizes existing content and storytelling, finds gaps, and helps expand HOPA's reach among primary (oncology and pharmacy professionals) and secondary (people with cancer and their caregivers, elected officials, and the public) audiences. The purpose of the Precision Oncology Initiative Task Force is to advance the education, training, and resource development for oncology pharmacists in the evolving field of precision oncology.
