Looking for opportunities to collaborate with other oncology pharmacists on multi-site research projects?

Have a research idea but need expert guidance, additional data, and/or statistical support?

Want to contribute to multi-site studies, data collection, or quality improvement initiatives that can influence oncology pharmacy practice?

About the HOPA CORe Center

Established in 2026, the HOPA Collaborative Oncology Research (CORe) Center aims to facilitate collaboration among oncology pharmacists in order to move practice forward through research initiatives.

The concept for the HOPA CORe Center originated from the winning Big Idea project that was presented and voted on during Annual Conference 2025.

The CORe Center will serve as a hub for research idea generation, protocol development, site recruitment, and expert guidance and feedback.

Through this new initiative, HOPA members will have the opportunity to:

  • Submit their multi-site research project ideas for expert feedback and protocol review
  • Recruit and vet additional sites for participation in their research initiatives
  • Sign up to participate in multi-institutional research projects
  • Receive general guidance from a pool of research experts on identifying or considering barriers throughout the research process (e.g., data use agreements, IRB approval, collaborative data collection techniques)
    • HOPA cannot aid in executing DUAs, receiving IRB approval, or coordinating data collection
  • Apply for statistical support funded by HOPA

What types of projects and investigators are the CORe considering?

  • Pharmacist-led projects focused on patient outcomes and oncology pharmacy care delivery
  • Retrospective or prospective analyses
  • Single or multi-center projects
  • Researchers who have a local IRB who are seeking to collaborate with other sites
  • Researchers looking for external protocol review and/or statistical support to strengthen their research
  • Researchers seeking to join existing multi-site studies

Eligibility Criteria

  • Project PIs must be HOPA members who have completed their post-graduate training
    • Please note: While residents may not serve as PIs for projects, they are eligible to serve as co-investigators
  • Projects must focus on care delivery and patient outcomes – the CORe will not be considering basic science and benchtop research projects at this time
    • Is this the type of research you focus on? Consider allying for one of HOPA's Research Grants!
  • Projects must have an external funding source for any salary or supply support required for project success

Two-Phase Application Process

Phase I: Project Proposals

  • August-September 2026

In Phase I of the application cycle, PIs will submit their project proposals and receive protocol feedback from a team of experts. Projects seeking participation from additional sites will be scored, and the highest scoring projects will move on to the second phase.

Phase I will also give investigators the opportunity to apply for statistical support for their research projects, which will be funded by HOPA.

Phase II: Site Recruitment

  • October-November 2026

In Phase II, HOPA members will have an opportunity to review the highest scoring multi-site project proposals from Phase I, and apply for their site to participate in the research studies. PIs will work with the CORe experts to vet the applicants and finalize the core research team for their project.
