"Although I have been a member of HOPA for more than a decade, I did not immediately pursue active involvement in the organization. Like many who are part of a large organization, I was intimidated. HOPA has done tremendous work to equalize the natural power imbalance between a large national organization's leadership and its membership, and I am honored and excited to be a part of that continued change.
"Nearly a decade in academia has reinforced how talent in trainees can go unrealized when they do not have an intentional pathway to participate. Through inclusive mentorship, I have had the privilege of helping trainees and early-career professionals recognize their strengths, find their voice, and see themselves as contributors and future leaders. I have learned that sometimes, all it takes is for someone to say, 'I see you. You bring a valued perspective, and you belong here.'
"I will bring that same philosophy to HOPA. There are many highly-skilled and hardworking members who want to be more active but may not know how to start, or may even wonder whether they belong at the table. I want to facilitate opportunities for both early career individuals and established pharmacists, creating more effective pathways for mentorship, professional growth, and purposeful engagement with HOPA.
"As a Member At-Large, I will focus on two goals that directly support HOPA's Strategic Plan: elevating member development across the professional journey by creating stronger pathways into mentorship and service, and expanding access to research and quality-improvement opportunities so more members can turn their ideas into meaningful contributions to oncology pharmacy.
"My leadership approach is grounded in curiosity, inclusion, and collaboration. I would listen to the membership, ask who is not yet at the table, and work with HOPA leadership to turn members' ideas and potential into action.
"It would be my honor to help bring the enormous talent sitting on the sidelines to the spotlight, and to help more HOPA members see that they belong here and that there is a place for their voice and leadership within our organization."
