Course Description

This module provides hematology/oncology pharmacists with a basic understanding of pharmacoeconomic concepts and how to apply them to clinical practice. The module begins by discussing the elements of value as defined by various perspectives, followed by a discussion on the complexity of determining drug costs. We will then applythese concepts to analyze pharmacoeconomic trials within oncology.

Learning Objectives

  • Compare and contrast between the various value-based models
  • Apply and assess the various value-based models using clinical examples
  • Identify future directions for the assessment of value of oncology therapies

This module includes an ACPE Pre- and Post-Test, an eLearning course, and a course evaluation. You must complete all of these module activities, in order, before claiming ACPE credits.

Jason Bergsbaken, PharmD, BCOP, MBA currently serves as Pharmacy Coordinator, Regional Oncology Services and PGY2 Oncology Residency Program Director at UW Health and well as Clinical Assistant Professor at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in Madison, WI. His previous HOPA involvement includes Chair of the BCOP Oversight Committee and BCOP Annual Conference Subcommittee. Currently, he serves as a member of the HOPA Public Policy Committee.
