HOPA’s Vision and DEI:
HOPA’s vision is that all individuals affected by cancer have a hematology/oncology pharmacist as an integral member of their care team. To help realize this vision, HOPA’s mission is to support pharmacy practitioners and promote and advance hematology/oncology pharmacy to optimize the care of individuals affected by cancer.
HOPA's core values include Leadership, Collaboration, Integrity, Responsiveness, Innovation, Diversity, and Inclusion, and these guide the organization’s work in five key areas: Professional Practice, Education, Research & Quality, Organizational Excellence, and Advocacy & Awareness.
We recognize the long-standing systems of racism and inequity that have shaped the experiences of our members and patients, particularly those with diverse backgrounds, beliefs,, and lived experiences, and we acknowledge the role we have in dismantling these systems through action and commitment to the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice.
A Call to Action:
Recognizing our role in addressing and dismantling systems of inequity, injustice, and exclusion in our healthcare systems, the DEI Task Force (2021-2022) and DEI Committee (2022-2023) has developed this toolkit to provide every HOPA member the resources to increase awareness, develop, and instill DEI principles in each member’s personal and professional environment.
