BCOP Updates 2026: Beyond Steroids: Updates in Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease
Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is a curative therapy for many malignant and non-malignant hematologic disorders for both adult and pediatric patients, but chronic graft-versus-host (cGVHD) disease remains a leading cause of late non-relapse mortality (NRM). Although first-line cGVHD therapy consists of corticosteroids, about half of patients will experience steroid-dependent or steroid-refractory disease, requiring further treatment. There are now 4 FDA-approved agents for the treatment of steroid-dependent or steroid-refractory cGVHD. This session will focus on the four FDA-approved medications in this space, emphasizing their organ system efficacy, place in therapy, mechanism of action, key drug interactions, and adverse event profiles.
