Heidi D. Finnes, PharmD, BCOP, FHOPA is the Senior Manager of Pharmacy Cancer Research and is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She is the Director of Pharmacy Shared Resources at the Mayo Clinic Care Center. Heidi is actively involved in Mayo Clinic Cancer Center electronic order set development, clinical trial review and coordinates outpatient PGY1 and PGY2 educational experiences in oncology. Through support of the Cancer Center in clinical trial review, supportive care and drug interaction management, Heidi identified a need for institutional recognition of the pharmacist as a critical member of the healthcare team. She helped establish and currently participates in a growing medication therapy management clinic for both hematology and oncology patients.

Heidi received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University and has worked at Mayo Clinic in inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology and Cancer Center investigational drug services since 1998. She has been a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist since 2003. Heidi has an avid interest in melanoma, gastrointestinal cancer, lung cancer and developmental therapeutics research. She is the committee chair for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology Pharmacy Committee and participates on the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group melanoma and pharmacy committees.

Heidi is fortunate to have been mentored by many exceptional hematology/oncology colleagues at Mayo Clinic, HOPA and in the Alliance who have shaped and advanced her clinical practice focus. These interactions have strengthened her drive to afford other pharmacists the same collaboration, research and educational opportunities. Through participation as President (2022-2023) on the HOPA Board of Directors, Heidi hopes to promote mentorship opportunities, innovative pharmacy practices post-COVID-19 and collaborate to develop safe practice standards and guidelines for service reimbursement.
