Jim worked in healthcare for 32 years in CA hospital and health plan management. Of note, he worked 23 years in a large public hospital that had an open-door policy for patients regardless of ability to pay. The hospital was an academic teaching hospital for Stanford School of Medicine. At the age of 29, Jim was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and underwent surgery and radiation therapy. To date, Jim has not had a recurrence. At age 52, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. After surgery, he was cancer free for 11 years. Jim’s recurrence resulted in his undergoing radiation hormone therapy and is again cancer free.
