In the hopes of building upon recent research into oncology pharmacy practice workload and productivity, the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist Association (HOPA) conducted a survey aiming to assess task valuation.
In order to pursue this goal, HOPA deployed a brief web-based survey across early 2025 to eligible oncology pharmacists. After gathering responses, tasks were assessed in terms of those most valued and those most associated with lower job satisfaction.
The results of the survey not only identify tasks highly valued by oncology pharmacists, but help paint a fuller picture of day-to-day life in the oncology pharmacy workforce, with both its rewards and challenges. The overarching objective is that identifying these valued tasks and workforce challenges can aid in future strategic decision-making, emphasize higher-valued services, enhance job satisfaction, and improve retention in the field.
The full methods and results were published in the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice.
