Module 3: Monitoring and Modifying Cancer Treatment Care Plans
Course Description
This module demonstrates the pharmacists' patient care process in the development and implementation of the monitoring associated with a cancer treatment care plan. Patient-specific monitoring plans integrating basic pharmacology knowledge and evaluation of laboratory and other clinical data, such as pharmacogenomics, biomarkers, physical examination, radiographic, pathologic, and other diagnostic tests, will be discussed. An overview of how to approach drug and cancer-related symptom assessments to further modify plans is provided. Additionally, long-term toxicities associated with anticancer treatments are discussed and examples of how to evaluate, monitor, and treat these is included. Both during-treatment and post-treatment (i.e., survivorship) monitoring plans are discussed and examples are provided.

- Identify laboratory and other clinical data required to assess the effectiveness and safety of a cancer treatment care plan
- Formulate patient-specific monitoring plans based on evaluation of laboratory and other clinical data for initial and subsequent cancer treatments
