Poster Deadlines for ACCEPTED Abstracts*

  • Window to submit Trainee e-posters for Trainee Award consideration: January 19 - February 2, 2026 (completed results required for consideration)
  • Window to submit all other accepted poster files (non-award): March 12, 2026
  • HOPA Annual Conference: March 25-27, 2026 | New Orleans, LA

*Deadlines apply only to authors who have already submitted an abstract during the Abstract Submission windows, and have been notified by HOPA that their abstract has been accepted.

Quality Research Certificate

The Quality Research Certificate is an award presented by the Quality Oversight Committee at each Annual Conference that celebrates exemplary research focused on quality care in oncology. Strong candidate abstracts include the following criteria:

  • Focus on quality and value metrics in the care of patients with cancer
  • Project results have an impact on the current practice of cancer care, with a potential for broader impact beyond one single organization
  • Address a nationally or internationally recognized oncology and/or pharmacy quality metric or standard, such as ASCO QOPI or COC
  • Highlight the role and/or value of the pharmacist in the delivery of care to oncology patients

To have a research abstract considered for the Quality Research Certificate, the abstract must be submitted to the Annual Conference and be self-identified as a Quality Improvement research project. Trainee, Late Breaking, and Completed Research abstracts are all eligible for consideration. The HOPA Quality Oversight Committee completes a competitive peer review process and selects up to five certificate winners. The winning abstracts are also highlighted in a HOPA News column following the Conference.

Authorship

Abstract presenting authors do not need to be a HOPA member in order to be considered for a poster presentation at the HOPA Annual Conference. However, the presenting author must be a HOPA member and must also be the principal or co-principal investigator of the research in order to be considered for a platform or award-seeking presentation, or to present an industry-sponsored poster.. Please see definitions below.

Please note that presenting authors are required to attend the conference and present during the poster session.

Research presented at other professional meetings will be considered for “Encore” presentations. Encore presentations are not eligible for HOPA abstract/poster awards, Late-Breaking research or platform presentation of their work.

Industry

Industry Encore Posters are posters that have been accepted and presented at other professional meetings and/or previously published and are submitted by one of HOPA’s Industry Relations Council (IRC) Partners.

Industry Supported Abstracts are eligible for presentation at the HOPA Annual Conference as Completed Research, Late-Breaking Research, and “Encore” Research. The presenting author for industry sponsored abstracts must be a HOPA member. An industry employee may not present research at the HOPA Annual Conference unless they acted as a primary investigator on the project. All financial interests and commercial or federal funded research must be disclosed upon submission.

ePosters

An electronic poster (ePoster) is an electronic submission of the poster to be presented at the annual meeting. Selected authors (Completed Research, Late-Breaking Research, and those applying for Trainee Top Ten) will create and submit an ePoster according to the guidelines of acceptance and upload the final version to a specified website for reviewing. Initial ePosters will be due approximately four to six weeks prior to the meeting, and final ePosters will be due approximately two weeks prior to allow time for off-site review. Further details and information will be communicated with the accepted presenter regarding the electronic poster process upon notification of abstract acceptance.

Avoidance of Commercialism

All presentations must avoid commercialism. Presentations that constitute promotion and advertising (including the use of logos) will not be considered. If the cost of any presentation has been underwritten to any extent, a clear acknowledgment stating the support, identifying the source, and describing the methods for keeping the content unbiased should be included. Advertising material that in any way promotes the commercial interest of a particular company, enterprise, or the author(s) may not be distributed or displayed. Statements made in the presentation are the sole responsibility of the author and are not viewed as, or considered representative of, any formal position taken on any product, subject, issue or by HOPA.

Responsibility for Expenses

The HOPA Annual Conference gives hematology/oncology pharmacy professionals the opportunity to present their work within an atmosphere of support by peers and national leaders. Presenters must register for at least the day on which they are scheduled to present. Only those presenters (or representatives) committed to attending the conference may submit an abstract. Presenters are responsible for all expenses such as travel, hotel, and meeting registration fees.

Abstract Embargo Policy

HOPA's embargo policy states that coverage of research abstracts being presented at the Annual Conference is strictly prohibited until two weeks before the conference. Content that is previously published online, in advance of print publication, is still subject to HOPA's embargo policy.
