A forthcoming HOPA book of letters gives oncology pharmacists from around the world the space to write about how they determined you had found their home in hematology and oncology.

Phase 2: Author Selection and Letter Writing
Phase 2 is submission of your full letter about your experiences in - and calling to - oncology pharmacy.
- The maximum word count is 1800 words
- Deadline for the first draft of letters: September 22, 2025
- Subsequent deadlines will be based on editorial feedback, copyediting, and proofing
- Remember to keep it professional, practical, and encouraging

Phase 1: Collection of Story Ideas (NOW CLOSED)
Submit a biography and a 300-word (maximum) brief outlining your letter plan at the link below.
- Biography: Should be < 100 words and concisely describe relevant history and current practice.
- Letter Brief: The intent is to help editors categorize the letters, ensure the theme meets with the publication purpose and select letters to move forward.
- Deadline for the letter brief and biography: August 1, 2025
Selected authors will be notified the week of August 18, 2025.
Writing Prompts: Who, What, When, Where, and Why
- What single moment led you to oncology pharmacy? How do you continue to live that moment in your practice today?
- How did you know you were in the right place (your career choice, care setting, etc.)?
- How would you describe your career development and growth? Has it been traditional, atypical, or something else?

- What advice would you give someone who is considering a career move?
- What is one meaningful interaction or clinical intervention that has significantly impacted your career? Who were the people involved?
- What are some meaningful ways you have used your experiences to contribute to advocacy - for patients, as well as for oncology pharmacy?
- What advice do you have for staying true to your personal and professional values?
