"I am honored to submit my candidacy for the position of At-Large Board Member on the HOPA Board.
"Like many of you, I have devoted my career to advancing cancer care, and throughout this journey, HOPA has been an indispensable resource and a supportive community that has grown alongside me. My commitment to HOPA extends beyond membership, as I have had the privilege of volunteering in leadership roles - serving as Chair for both the Practice Outcomes and Professional Benchmarking Committee and Research Council. I am eager to bring this experience, dedication, and vision to serve you as a Member At-Large board member. If elected, I will strive to uphold and advance HOPA's strategic pillars: Education, Professional Practice, Research & Quality, Organizational Excellence, and Advocacy & Awareness. I am committed to ensuring that HOPA remains the organization that serves you, the oncology pharmacy professional, across all practice settings.
"A pressing issue that needs to be a priority is confronting the reality of a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, and alongside it, career expectations within what we do and what is professionally fulfilling to membership. Burnout and lack of engagement need to improve if we want to retain bright clinicians and leaders within our field. To mitigate this, I am enthusiastic about exploring innovative ways HOPA can support career advancement as part of our Professional Practice pillar. Developing accessible resources, such as career development ladders, will nurture professional growth, job satisfaction, and, in turn, strengthen our organization. Complementary to this is Advocacy, as it may be our most important tool to produce broader meaningful change.
"Another priority will be to strengthen connections across diverse practice environments, bridging rural and urban areas so that the impact of oncology pharmacists reaches patients wherever they are. A critical step toward this goal is fostering equity in clinical trials. By establishing a more collaborative environment, centered around HOPA, we can facilitate research education and meaningful collaboration within our membership. I was pleased to see a proposal presented as one of the "Big Ideas" at the HOPA Annual Conference 2025 - a strong indication of the membership's recognition of this initiative's value. With my previous leadership in the Research Council, I am well-positioned to leverage my expertise to help launch and sustain this important endeavor.
"Aligned with our Education pillar, I envision HOPA as a platform to empower oncology pharmacists with skills essential to their professional growth - such as grant writing - to support impactful research initiatives. Leveraging partnerships with industry will further amplify these efforts, fostering mutually beneficial collaborations. These initiatives will also enhance our ability to work alongside other professional societies, fulfilling HOPA's commitment to partnering in pursuit of shared priorities.
"Through these and other initiatives, I am committed to serving you on the Board as At-Large Board Member with integrity and vision. Together, we can continue to elevate the practice of oncology pharmacy and improve outcomes for the patients we serve."
