"It is an honor to be considered for a Board leadership role within HOPA. My career has been dedicated to advancing oncology pharmacy through education, research, clinical innovation, and mentorship. For nearly a decade, I have served in leadership roles within HOPA, which has given me a deep appreciation for both the opportunities and the responsibilities of Board service.
"I have always focused on building programs that create lasting impact. At UC San Diego, I established the first outpatient oncology pharmacist role, expanded the oncology curriculum at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences by 50%, and created a new oncology elective that has inspired future pharmacists to enter the field. Nationally, I co-developed and launched HOPA's BCOP Recertification/Preparatory Course, which has become a foundational resource for hundreds of oncology pharmacists each year. My collaborative research has advanced the understanding of real-world outcomes in hematology and BMT, supportive care, and health disparities, while also creating opportunities for trainees to present and publish their own work.
"Mentorship is one of the most meaningful aspects of my career. I have had the privilege of mentoring dozens of trainees - both formally and informally - watching them grow into outstanding professionals across diverse oncology pharmacy disciplines. To me, mentorship is a way of paying forward the support I received from my own mentors, and it is one of the most powerful ways we can sustain and strengthen our profession.
"If elected, I will focus on advancing HOPA's strategic pillars of Education and Research & Quality, while ensuring that access, representation, opportunity, and compassion guide every decision. Membership will remain my priority. HOPA's strength lies in the dedication and expertise of oncology pharmacists in all practice settings, and I am committed to ensuring that every member feels supported, represented, and empowered - regardless of career stage or professional environment.
"Throughout my career, I have relied on compassion, collaboration, and communication to guide my leadership. These tenets, combined with my experience, uniquely position me to serve on the HOPA Board with authenticity and purpose. At this stage in my career, I want to give back by leaving the profession stronger than I found it - standing on the shoulders of the giants who laid the foundation for HOPA while empowering the next generation of oncology pharmacists. Together, we can continue to elevate HOPA's impact for our members, our patients, and the profession."
