GI Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist | Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Election Statement

As an engaged member of HOPA over the past 10 years, I'm thrilled and honored to be running for Member At-Large. I am a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Gastrointestinal Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I received my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and completed my PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy residencies at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. I have experience as a generalist hematology/oncology specialist at a community teaching hospital as well as at large academic medical centers with more than a dozen oncology clinical pharmacy specialists. Because of this, I can understand the specific needs and challenges of oncology pharmacists in both the community and academic medical center environments. I have been highly involved with HOPA, and have served on several committees, including as chair and vice-chair, task forces, workgroups, and focus groups. I've been honored to legislate on behalf of HOPA at HOPA Hill Day, and have provided BCOP-lectures live at the Annual Conference and virtually through the BCOP updates course. I received the HOPA New Practitioner Award in 2023. I have experience leading multidisciplinary initiatives at the institutional level such as the as creation of a Chemotherapy Safety Committee and implementation of a Hepatic Arterial Infusion Chemotherapy program. I am a thoughtful, hardworking, and open person with a drive to collaborate.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent you as Member At-Large and to propel HOPA's strategic plan forward. I am open to any ideas to achieve this; some of my proposals include: expanding BCOP education activities, continuing to develop practice standards for oncology pharmacy, and enhancing HOPA's relationship with other oncology organizations so that pharmacists are involved with all guidelines or standards related to the care of patients with cancer.
