Election Statement
As a HOPA Board Member At-Large, I hope to offer a blend of strategic vision, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to advancing the field of hematology/oncology pharmacy.
With a strong background in pharmacy practice, research, and education, I am well-positioned to help HOPA achieve the goals outlined in its Strategic Plan. I have served in multiple leadership roles both within HOPA as well as in other professional organizations and am eager to apply the skills and insights I have gained from these experiences into the next phase of leadership within HOPA.
One of HOPA’s chief goals is to provide its members with the education and resources needed to excel in their roles and advance their careers. Drawing from my experience in developing and leading educational programs, I would prioritize expanding HOPA's educational offerings by introducing innovative learning formats, such as interactive online courses and patient cases, peer-led discussions, and virtual simulation tools that replicate real-world oncology scenarios and could facilitate new ways to provide BCOP continuing education credits within the new BPS CPD requirements.
My experience within BCOP continuing educational programming will enable me to create content that is relevant and engaging to a diverse membership base. I would also advocate for establishing an expanded mentorship network within HOPA, connecting seasoned professionals with emerging leaders and those beginning the transition to mid-career (5-10 years of practice) to help to foster knowledge sharing, support career growth, and build a stronger community that could help positively impact our members and help mitigate burnout.
HOPA's Strategic Plan places significant emphasis on advancing research to inform best practices in oncology pharmacy. With my strong background in clinical research, including collaborative multicenter research efforts, I am prepared to champion initiatives that promote research collaboration among HOPA members. I would also seek to create platforms for sharing new ways to improve and enhance individual and residency research efforts.
In summary, I bring a combination of experience, passion, and strategic thinking to the leadership role within HOPA. By focusing on professional development, research advancement, and education, I am committed to helping HOPA achieve its Strategic Plan goals and furthering its mission to improve patient care through excellence in hematology/oncology pharmacy and identifying ways to keep our members engaged and motivated.
