About this course

Significant variability exists in symptom management across cancer care settings, resulting in inconsistent patient care. This inconsistency is largely due to differences in clinical practices, resource availability, and approaches to symptom management across healthcare providers and institutions.

This session aims to outline the adaptation process and specific decisions made in developing symptom management pathways designed to improve patient outcomes and streamline clinical operations.

The focus will be on creating standardized clinical and patient decision support pathways that leverage data from medical records, patient-reported outcomes, and other sources (e.g., health plans) to anticipate and prevent symptoms or efficiently triage patients to the most effective interventions, such as education programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). We will focus on reviewing our approach to integrate existing expertise and resources with new technologies and content (such as digital platforms) to build a unified, comprehensive program that enhances symptom management and care consistency across settings.
