The HOPA Foundation has been formed in concert with the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association and will initially focus on research activities.

HOPA FOUNDATION STRATEGIC PLAN 2011-2014

VISION: Optimal drug therapy for all individuals affected by cancer.

MISSION: The HOPA Foundation supports research efforts of hematology/oncology pharmacists to optimize the care of individuals affected by cancer.

Goal Area: RESEARCH EDUCATION

Goal Statement: The HOPA Foundation is a leader in the provision of outstanding hematology/oncology research education to support practitioners that provide care for individuals affected by cancer.

Objective 1.1

Develop and launch an investigational drug service training/certificate program. (M)

Objective 1.2

Evaluate the need for and identify gaps in research methodology training (e.g. outcomes, surveys, practice, and patient safety) for hematology/oncology pharmacists. (H)

Develop educational program or initiatives around identified gaps in research methodology training. (L)

Goal Area: RESEARCH SUPPORT

Goal Statement: The HOPA Foundation will develop and support research priorities focused on the practice of hematology/oncology pharmacy.

Objective 2.1

Support research for hematology/oncology pharmacy practice standard development and validation. (M)

Objective 2.2

Support research that quantifies the value of pharmacist involvement in all aspects of care for individuals affected by cancer. (M)

Objective 2.3

Support research that evaluates and identifies optimal approaches to improving the safe and effective use of drug therapy for individuals affected by cancer. (M)

Objective 3.1

Establish a giving program that targets the leaders and membership of HOPA. (H)

Work with HOPA to secure funding from external sources (H/M)
