CPE Information
Conference Objectives
At the close of the HOPA's 8th Annual Conference, attendees will be better able to
- describe current controversies relating to screening and treatment of patients with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies
- summarize updates in the medical literature in relation to hematology/oncology
- describe new and emerging therapies in hematology and oncology patients
- understand recent developments in the medical literature regarding hematology/oncology medications.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
HOPA organizes an annual conference for hematology/oncology pharmacy practitioners to educate attendees about emerging research and new treatment regimens, provide clinical updates on treatment of tumor types and new supportive care therapies, and present an overview of common clinical and technical issues in the hematology/oncology clinical setting. The overall goal of educating oncology pharmacy practitioners about current developments is to improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery while maintaining or exceeding the quality of patient care. By informing hematology/oncology practitioners about the latest developments in clinical trials, therapeutic regimens, treatment guidelines, and emerging technologies, these individuals will be well positioned to participate in healthcare initiatives and clinical decision making that will have a direct and positive impact on cancer patient management. Objectives of the 2012 conference include educating attendees about topics of emerging interest in the management of cancer patients as well as practical issues that pharmacists face while delivering cancer care. Topics for HOPA's 8th Annual Conference, as well as scheduling, venue, and speakers, were chosen based on therapeutic advances in hematology/oncology, current medical news, input from HOPA's planning committees, and suggestions from last year's participants.

ACPE Credit
Attendees will be issued an audience response system (ARS) keycard at registration to record your responses to questions presented during the education sessions. HOPA may use this to validate your attendance for ACPE credit. To claim ACPE credit, complete the evaluations online through Conference Web Central at www.hoparx.org. Evaluate sessions online at the end of each day at the Cyber Cafe stations, which will be located in the registration area. Your CPE certificate may be created online, but do not print it until you have evaluated and claimed credit for all of the sessions you have attended at the conference. The six BCOP specialty sessions are open to all conference attendees for CPE credit. To help us assess your future educational needs, we ask that you complete this process by April 30, 2012; however, you will be able to claim credit for the meeting through December 31, 2012. After you have claimed credit, your certificate will remain available online and can be accessed at any time by logging onto your Credit Profile page at www.hopau.org.
