Call for Poster Abstracts is Open for the 2011 Annual Conference
HOPA will now accept research poster abstracts for consideration for the HOPA 2011 Annual Conference. Below you will find two options for submitting an abstract depending upon whether you are a Practitioner or a Trainee (resident, student or fellow). You must be a HOPA member to submit an abstract. At least one author must register for the 2011 Annual Conference and be present at the poster sessions.
PRACTITIONER RESEARCH ABSTRACTS
Deadline for submission: Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11:59 PM (PST): Abstracts must describe completed research (ie, must contain results and conclusions). All accepted Practitioner abstracts will be published in an issue of the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice. Posters will be judged at the conference. The top four abstracts may be selected to present a Platform Presentation at the conference. Interested practictioners can access the online form here.
TRAINEES: Research in Progress
Deadline for submission: Monday, January 15, 2011 at 11:59 PM (PST): Trainee (resident, fellow, student) research in progress should be for ongoing research. All that will be required is title and objectives of study. Only current trainees may use this deadline. Trainees are encouraged to use the October 4, 2010 deadline if their completed research (results & conclusions) is available at that time. All Trainee research project titles will be printed in the HOPA 2011 Annual Conference Program Book. Each poster will be evaluated at the conference. Nominations Open! 2011 Membership and Literature Awards
It's time to nominate a colleague for a HOPA recognition award! HOPA is seeking nominations for annual awards, which recognize HOPA members who have shown outstanding achievement in their field. The nomination deadline is August 31, 2010. Nomination forms and more details about the various awards are available on the HOPA Web site at www.hoparx.org.

HOPA Research Grant Opportunity
The HOPA Board and Research Committee announce the opening of a request for proposals for the 2011 HOPA Investigator Research Grant. This grant is for an amount up to $50,000 and will be awarded in early 2011 through a competitive peer-review process. Visit here for more information and an application

BCOP Recertification Credit Opportunities Still Available
HOPA members who are looking to earn BCOP recertification credit in 2010 still have opportunities to available to them. If you missed the Oncology Specialty Sessions at the 2010 HOPA Annual Conference, you can take these same courses at the upcoming annual meetings of ACCP on October 19-20, or ASHP on December 7. After you complete all six hour sessions, you will be sent a link to take the online test.
In addition to the live sessions, ACCP offers the other two components of the BCOP recertification program, both of which are available to HOPA members at the member rate. The Oncology Pharmacy Preparatory Review Course and the Oncology Pharmacy Home Study Syllabus are available at the ACCP Bookstore Web site and must be completed by November 30.

New HOPA U Sessions
New CPE Activities are available FREE on HOPA U. If you haven't visited the site lately, several new programs have been made available. Debuting August 4th is Renal Cell Carcinoma: Moving Forward into the Next Generation of Care with Sachin Shah and Christine Walko. Other new programs include New Drug Update 2010 - Marketed Products with Cindy O'Bryant, Cardiovascular Complications of Cancer Treatment with Kellie Jones and Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia: Evolving Treatment Strategies by Jolynn Sessions and Amy Seung.

Call for Volunteers - 2011 Fun Run/Walk
HOPA is seeking volunteers for a task force to help plan the 2011 Fun Run/Walk in conjunction with the annual conference. The task force will work with HOPA staff to determine a viable venue for the event, develop a budget of expenses and income/donations, and select a local charity as the beneficiary of the proceeds of the Fun Run/Walk.
