New in Advocacy Activities

HOPA on the Hill 2015On April 29, 2015 members of the HOPA Board of Directors and Health Policy Committee participated in the first annual “HOPA Hill Day.” To prepare for the Hill visits, participants attended an advocacy training on Tuesday evening where they were briefed on the current political climate and discussed the specific “asks” that each individual would be taking to their Members of Congress which included:

  • Cosponsoring the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act (S. 314/H.R. 592)
  • Cosponsoring the Patients’ Access to Treatments Act (H.R. 1600)
  • Supporting oral chemotherapy parity

The participants visited 36 offices where they were greeted with general support for our “asks.” Many staffers requested follow-up information and HOPA continues to follow up with those offices and build support for our issues.
